ORONA ACQUIRES MWLS GROUP

ORONA, the leading Spanish Lift Manufacturing and Service Company, and supplier to more than 90 countries all over the world, has acquired Mid Western Lifts group, its long-time partner in Ireland.

Joining the ORONA group, represents a further step in consolidating Mid Western Lifts as the leading lift company in Ireland.

ORONA now employs over 4,000 people in their operations in Spain, U.K, Holland, France and Portugal.

The ORONA Group strongly supports activities such as investment in innovation, product development, continual improvement, implementation of quality and environmental policies, and constant awareness of customer's satisfaction.

ORONA will generate 1,000 new jobs with the launch of an R&D Center on Elevation and Urban Mobility during 2011.

Commenting on the acquisition, Javier Mutuberria, ORONA’s General Director, explains that “we consider this to be the right moment to join forces and strengthen positions.”

Installation at Eagle House London

Description: The refurbishment of Eagle House, a locally listed building, to provide residential units above commercial units on the ground and first floors, with a health and fitness club in the basement. A new landmark residential tower in an appropriate urban location acting as a gateway building along an important urban axis.

Towards the end of 2010 we signed contracts with McCabe Builders (UK) Ltd. to supply the vertical transportation for Eagle House re-development. On completion of this project, we will have fitted three tower lifts serving 28 floors (2 x 10 Person/800Kg lifts & 1 x 13 Person/1000Kg lift). All three lifts are top drive traction units with a cabin speed of 2.5 m/s. One of the lifts will also serve as a full fire fighting passenger lift. As part of this project we are providing two car/vehicle lifts (capacity 4,500Kg hydraulic units) to transport cars/vehicles from street level to the underground basement car park. Elsewhere in the building we are installing a residential lift for social housing flats over nine floors, an external glazed podium lift and the waste removal bins lift over three basement floors. Work is scheduled to commence late 2011.

Installation at Premier Travel Inn London

January 2011 – Mid Western Lifts signed contracts with Bennett Construction (UK) Ltd. to supply the vertical transportation for the new Premier Travel Inn on Lavington Street London. The project when completed, will have two passenger s lifts serving 9 floors (1 x 13 Person/1000Kg MRL adjacent opening 1:1 system & 1 x 13 Person/1000Kg fire fighting lift). Both lifts are machine room drive traction units with a cabin speed of 1.0m/s. Work to begin in September 2011.

Safe T Cert Accreditation

Safe-T-Cert is a recognised system under the Build Safe initiative in Northern Ireland the Construction Safety Partnership in the Republic of Ireland and we acknowledge the importance and effectiveness of the Safe T Cert in our drive for continuous improvement.
One of the benefits of the Safe T Cert is that our Clients are assured that Mid Western Lifts Ltd are now a Safe T Cert registered Company and have an effective Health and Safety Management System.

Finzels Reach Bristol

December 09 we signed contracts with Sisk UK to supply the vertical transportation for Finzels Reach Bristol.
The project is to be completed in 2 phases and the first phase requires lifts on site for June 2010. When completed We will have fitted 13 lifts rangeing from 10 stop fire fighting 10 person lifts to 2 stop 3000kg goods only lifts.
The M & E consulting engineers are London based DSSR

Obel Tower Belfast

Northern Lifts & Escalators Ltd have secured the contract for the lift installation at the Obel Tower (Donegall Quay) Belfast which is the tallest building currently under construction within Ireland. The complex consists of the tower which is 32 storey block, with a duplex high speed lift system at 2.5m/s, and a further two sets of duplex lift installation within the proposed hotel and office blocks.

Northern Lifts & Escalators Ltd have also been successful in securing the prestigious Law Society office and the Boat Complex, all within Belfast City Centre.

New Acute Hospital Enniskillen

Northern Lifts & Escalators Ltd has secured the contract for the lift installations at the New Acute Hospital Enniskillen. There are a number of lifts within this contract ranging from 1000kg Glass lifts to 2500kg Bed Lifts. The main contractor on site is P Elliot’s & Co Ltd. There will be total of 19 Lifts when this contact is completed in 2012.

Lansdowne Road Aviva Stadium

Work on the lift installations for the Aviva Stadium commenced in early January 2009 and work has been ongoing since. The installations were scheduled sequentially with lift No. 1 to Lift No.6 being the first lifts to be installed. These lifts are now at pre-commissioning stage, final commissioning is due to take place early January. Work has also been progressing on the remaining lifts, most of these lifts have now reached practical completion stage with commissioning schedule to commence in January also. We are aiming to have all lifts fully commissioned by the end of February 2010

There are three escalators on the project, two located internally and one located externally (west of railway). The installation of all three has been scheduled in two phases. Escalator No.1 and No.2 are substantially complete with the remaining works to be completed at the end of January. Escalator 3 had to be installed during a rail closure as it was located on the west side of the stadium and located close to the rail line. These works were carried out over the weekend of 26th September and the installation is now at practical completion stage. Again, commissioning is to be completed January/February 2010

Shannon Airport New CBP Facility

Mid Western Lifts Have been awarded the contract to supply and fit the lift and escalator package for the new customs and border protection facility at Shannon Airport. This project when completed will have 8 escalators and 8 passenger lifts from our 1600Kg - 2000Kg MRL traction range.

Mid Western lifts have been working with Shannon Airport for the last number of years with both new installations and maintenance.
